The Petition

Dear Representatives Lee and Rosenthal,

I am writing to you, requesting that you carry the legislation drafted by Ronisha Johnson, called the “E.I.P” act. The E.I.P Act stands for the “exist in peace” act which categorizes 911 calls made based on racism, racial discrimination, racial bias, or prejudice as a Hate Crime which will lead to the immediate arrest of the 911 caller, followed by a felony charge, fine, and community service.

African Americans are being harassed by fellow citizens who fail to see the necessity of equality among races, the purpose of diversity, nor the importance peace among citizens. The frequent 911 calls being made against African Americans for completing normal, everyday tasks are based on nothing more than racial intolerance and hatred. This must stop immediately. African Americans are being prohibited from existing, in peace. This is not the freedom that the United States Constitution declares every citizen has the right to enjoy.

Until this point, the 911 callers have faced no penalty for this hate crime, while those whom these calls are made against are left to deal the mental anguish of being racially targeted. This needs to stop now and the callers must face a proper penalty.

Therefore, I ask that you please carry the “E.I.P” act and lead this country on a true path to justice, freedom and equality for all.
